On February 20, 2024, Ambassador Wendall K. Jones, the Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States, participated in the official opening of The Bahamas Consulate General in Los Angeles, California.
Mrs. Joanna Poitier, the widow of the late Bahamian actor Sir Sidney Poitier, participated in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony along with Prime Minister Philip E. Davis and Minister of Foreign Affairs Frederick A. Mitchell.
Ms. Joy A. Newbold, Consul General, heads the Consulate General in Los Angeles. The Consulate will be responsible for the following jurisdictions: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
