On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Ambassador Wendall Jones paid a courtesy call on Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Ranking Member of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services and United States Representative of California’s 43rd Congressional District, at Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
 
Ambassador Jones and Congresswoman Waters took the opportunity to discuss several issues including the difficulties Bahamians face with de-risking of banks and the impact of policies of the European Union (EU) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on Financial Services in The Bahamas. They also discussed other matters of strategic importance, such as the operations of the AUTEC Naval facility in Andros.
 
Congresswoman Waters and her husband, Sidney Williams, a former U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas, visit Nassau at Christmas to enjoy the Junkanoo Parade.
Ambassador Jones is seen presenting a copy of the book on the 50th Anniversary of Bahamian Independence to Ms. Waters.
