Ambassador Jones meets with Ambassador Masood Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, July 20, 2023, Ambassador Masood Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Wendall Jones, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States.

 

Ambassador Jones and Khan took the opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest, including increasing trade relations between the two nations, the effects of climate change, relations with neighbouring countries, and CARICOM’s influence in the international fora. Ambassador Khan wishes to visit The Bahamas in the near term.

 

A distinguished diplomat with over thirty years in the diplomatic community, Ambassador Khan was previously the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from 2016 to 2021, a self-governing region controlled by Pakistan. In recent years, Ambassador Khan also served as Spokesman for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to the UN and China, and President of the UN Security Council, to name a few.

 

Ambassador Jones spoke of his life as a Journalist prior to becoming Ambassador to the US, the geography and economy of the country and the effects of internal and external migration.

 

Ambassador Jones presented Ambassador Khan with The Bahamas’ 50th Independence book.
