Washington, D.C – On Thursday February 6th, 2020, His Excellency Sidney Collie, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States of America and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the OAS, met with representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC)Attorney Elena Garagorri-Atristain – Deputy Head of Regional Delegation, Dr. Cate Bird – Missing Person & Forensic Advisor and Dr. Margarita Studemesiter – the Inter-American Affairs Advisor.

During the meeting, the representatives shared the ICRC’s mandate and mission to address humanitarian needs with regard to migration, detention, law enforcement and missing persons. Further, Dr. Cate apprised the Ambassador of her immediate deployment to Abaco and Grand Bahama after Hurricane Dorian, where she met and worked with government officials concerning missing Persons and the safe handling of human remains.
