On 15 April 2024, Ms. Kimberly R. Furnish, the newly appointed U.S. Chargé d’Affaires for the U.S. Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, paid a courtesy call on The Hon. Frederick Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, ahead of the Protocolary Meeting to commemorate Pan-American Day. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest.
 
Ms. Furnish is anticipated to assume her assignment in June 2024 to replace Ms. Usha Pitts, who has been U.S. Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy since January 2021.
The meeting was held in the Office of the Chair of the Permanent Council. H.E. Chet Neymour, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the Organization of American States (OAS), will serve as the Chair of the Permanent Council until the end of June 2024.
