Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, H.E. Wendall Jones hosted a reception for twelve (12) public and private sector delegates from The Bahamas, along with US government officials. Deputy Assistance Secretary for Caribbean Affairs and Haiti, Barbara Feinstein, presented remarks expressing hopes of continued discussions and cooperation.
 
From January 31st – February 2nd, 2023, the Delegation visited the District to engage in a sequence of meetings with the US government (USG) and private sector representatives on 5G technology. Matters of mutual interests were discussed, including the benefits of 5G in comparison to 4G and LTE, the possibilities of 5G technology in Smart Cities, funding mechanisms for 5G technology, and additional communication improvements, the advantages and challenges of satellite telecommunication options, USG 5G policy, open radio access network (Open RAN) architecture, next-generation telecommunications (6G). There was a further conversation on standards and best security practices. Both delegations engaged in fruitful dialogue and look forward to continued collaboration.
