WASHINGTON, D.C – On Wednesday June 16th, 2021, His Excellency Sidney Collie, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States of America and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the OAS, along with Economic Attaché Ronique Brown, met with Congressman Vern Buchanan, U.S. Representative for the State of Florida.

Congressman Buchanan is a self-made businessman and well respected statesman with over a decade of experience within the government and private sectors and over forty (40) years of travel to The Bahamas. He currently serves as a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives which has jurisdiction over international trade, healthcare and welfare.

During the meeting, Congressman Buchanan and Ambassador Collie discussed the long standing friendship and trade relationships between The Bahamas and Florida. In this regard, Congressman Buchanan expressed his commitment to forging stronger ties with The Bahamas, with great emphasis on the Cruise Line Industry.

Other matters of mutual interest were also discussed.
