KINGSTON, JAMAICA- On Wednesday 22nd January 2020, The Honourable Darren A. Henfield MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, His Excellency Sidney Collie, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States of America and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the OAS, and Ms. Sherry Johnson Deal, Foreign Service Officer, attended a Ministerial Round-table with the Honourable Michael R. Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of State in Kingston, Jamaica.

The high-level meeting provided a platform for discussions on shared democratic values and critical hemispheric matters particularly security, development cooperation, prosperity and human rights. Talks also centered on financial services inclusive of blacklistings and de-risking, youth empowerment, education and the diversification of the Organization of American States (OAS), all crucial to U.S.-Caribbean relations.

During a bilateral meeting with The Hon. Michael Pompeo, topics of discussion included Hurricane Dorian Recovery Efforts, US Travel Advisories on The Bahamas, Tourism, 50th OAS General Assembly and the upcoming Elections of the OAS Secretary General.
